DR. JASMYN KIANNA

I was born and raised in Decatur, Georgia, where I was surrounded by a community that encouraged and invested in my continual growth. I always knew I wanted to attend an HBCU, and after one visit I knew Howard University was the right choice for me. I matriculated at Howard University, where I graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s of Allied Health Science after 3 years of study. I went on to earn my Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Howard University in 2006, where I graduated with honors and was awarded the prestigious Student Pharmacist of the Year plaque. Immediately following pharmacy school, I completed a pharmacy practice residency with the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. I moved to Oregon where I treated patients of the Wasco and Paiute tribes as a Commissioned Officer of the US Public Health Service. This amazing experience is what first sparked my interest in the healing modalities of indigenous people, as I was able to participate first hand in many of the sacred healing rituals.

I am a believer in DNA memory and draw on my ancestors in practice using various indigenous medicinal herbs. Additionally, I honor the ancestors as I utilize treatment protocols that are thousands of years old. I am an Aborisa and a member of the Sweet Water Collective, Egbe Osun under the tutelage of Iyalosa Osunyemi Akalatunde. My spiritual practices are fused in everything I do and enhance my abilities as a healer.

I am an ASHP certified Emergency Medicine Pharmacist and Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist who practices as the sole Emergency Medicine Clinical Pharmacist at an Arlington, Virginia hospital. I also serve as the PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency director. I strive to not only master the standards of care in Western medicine but I also stay abreast of the most current research on plant-based remedies so that I can pull wisdom from both in my practice.
